Jakhoo Hill is famous for Jakhoo Temple which is an ancient temple of Hindu Lord Hanuman in “The queen of hills” Shimla. Its located just 2km from the Ridge Road, Shimla at a height of 2,455 m (8,000 feet) above sea.
You can go there by foot steps from Ridge by a path behind the church. You have to face steep climb to reach there. Even have option to hire a pony/horse or texi. but if possible go by steps.
In the way and in temple must beware of the monkeys and secure all personal belongings.
The Legend goes that Lord Hanuman stopped there to rest while he was searching for the Sanjivni Booti to revive Lakshman in the Epic Ramayana. It is said that the top of the hill got flattened due to Hanuman’s weight.
World’s tallest statue of Lord Hanuman was unveiled to public on November 5th 2010.
